New Poster For The Cabin In The Woods

Lionsgate is finally kicking it into gear for The Cabin in the Woods, a little horror film that’s been shelved for a few years due to MGM financial problems. The film stars Chris Hemsworth, who was at the time of filming not a big name, but now he’s made a name for himself as Thor. It also stars Richard Jenkins, Bradley Whitford and Jesse Williams.

What makes this film so special is that it was written by Joss Whedon and Drew Goddard. Both of those gentlemen have some big fan followings from their work on Buffy and Angel. Whedon is currently directing The Avengers for Marvel and Goddard is working with Steven Spielberg, so as you can see both of them have moved up in the world since The Cabin in the Woods was in the can.

Another big factor is the mystery surrounding the whole story of the film. The synopsis is simple, yet intriguing. Whedon and Goddard haven’t revealed any details about the film and people that have seen parts of it have had nothing but positive things to say. I’m not trying to get too excited for the film because I don’t want to build up unreasonable expectations, but this is easily becoming one of my most anticipated films for 2012.

The Cabin in the Woods is expected to hit theaters on April 13th, 2012.
