New ‘Man Of Steel’ Magazine Covers & Synder Might Direct ‘Justice League’ Still

Man of Steel! Cannot wait for this one, folks.

Today we’ve got some new Empire covers, which features a better look at Michael Shannon‘s Zod. I’m digging the look and feel and cannot wait to see Shannon tear up the screen come June.

There’s also a nice shot of Henry Cavill as Superman.

What’s even more interesting now is the updated news surrounding Zack Synder and his involvement with Justice League. Again, the word has shifted now to him totally being down for directing the film, if Man of Steel does well. Does that mean critically or financially or both?

Here’s the quote that I draw my questions from:

“Warner Bros.’ long-term view has been revised to embrace this new vision, just as the Dark Knight films resisted the commodification of Marvel. Whether we get a Justice League, they say, depends on Man of Steel. If we do, they say, Zack Snyder will be asked to direct.”

I guess this is all just one big waiting game now. Man of Steel is really going to seal the fate for a live-action Justice League film. I don’t like the idea of one film determining another, but I guess that’s beyond the point by now. Hopefully it does well and turns out good, so that we can finally figure out what the next move is for Justice League.

I’m not even looking forward to seeing it eventually make its way onto the big screen, but I would like some closure.

Also, beginning on May 18th Wal Mart customers will be able to secure up to four advanced tickets to see the film on June 13th at 7pm (at select theaters across the country). This marks the first partnership that I’m aware of between a major studio and a major chain. I wonder how much traction it will get?
