Finally, out of the darkest corners of summer blockbuster delays comes a new international trailer for Jon M. Chu‘s G.I. Joe: Retaliation. The film was supposed to see the light of day this past summer, but Paramount pulled the plug last minute and pushed it until 2013 because of a “3D conversion“. I still think they wanted to re-insert Channing Tatum after his sudden stardom, but this new trailer does feel very Tatum-less.
Hopefully the film really was delayed because they wanted to spend a good amount of time adding the extra dimension, but studios don’t just postpone a hot summer film, especially after dropping millions on a Super Bowl commercial.
Anyways, this new trailer features Dwayne Johnson, Bruce Willis, Channing Tatum and the rest of the cast and while most of it consists of already used footage, there are a few bright spots that we haven’t seen before. I keep forgetting Ray Stevenson is in this!
I’m excited for this one, mostly because the first one was garbage and almost anything can be better. I’m also remaining hesitant, because of the whole delay debacle.
G.I. Joe: Retaliation opens (in 3D) on March 29th, 2013.
