James Mangold‘s The Wolverine is shaping up to be an interesting production. We’ve already seen various images and teaser posters for the film, but up until this point we haven’t been completely sure as to when the film will take place in the already established X-Men universe.
We’ve recently found out (via Empire) that the film will actually be taking place after the last trilogy X-Men film. Judging by the picture above we can also assume that the film will make good use of flashbacks, because Wolverine (played by Hugh Jackman) is seen with his bone-claws, which is something from his past.
I think it’s an interesting route to take the story, because there’s so many possibilities for the character and I’m sort of glad that we’ll get to see the film focusing more on him and not so much other mutants.
This new teaser poster just got released today and it’s pretty bad ass and simple. I’m still refraining from getting too excited until I see some footage or a trailer, because the X-Men Origins: Wolverine film looked decent from all of the marketing material, but ended up being a complete waste.
The Wolverine opens on July 26th, 2013 and it will be released in 3D.
