Fox has been hammering down hard on the promotion for Ridley Scott‘s Alien: Covenant. This should come as no surprise. Who doesn’t remember the hype leading up into the release of Prometheus, which has gathered some rather negative feedback from critics and audiences a like.
I liked Prometheus. I’ll admit that it has many flaws, but I respect its ambitions and I love me some R-rated sci-fi, especially when playing in the Alien sandbox.
That’s probably why Alien: Covenant is shaping up to be one of my most anticipated films of the year.
Ridley Scott at the very least is a very talented visual filmmaker that occasionally nails a script and makes a great film. The Martian was amazing, while Exodus was complete garbage.
Will Alien: Covenant make up for the disappointments spawned for some from Prometheus or will it be even worse?
Who knows?
What we do know is that there’s a clip floating around that I’ve been told won’t make the final cut of the film, but will help bridge the gap between Prometheus and Alien: Covenant.
I’ll admit that the closing shot of the home planet definitely gave me chills and I absolutely hate that creep David. I really hope Shaw makes it out alive in this one, but these films haven’t been nice to her.
