Zack Snyder‘s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice has been on my radar for some time, despite most considering DC’s darker and more gritty tones as flat when compared to Marvel’s often kid-friendly and more entertaining approach.
I love the best of both worlds honestly, but I do tend to lean more towards Nolan’s Batman trilogy when compared to The Avengers.
Now, Snyder is taking over and continuing the failures of Man of Steel with this upcoming mega-sequel that will also make way for Justice League.
Most thought Snyder was going to continue down that dark and gritty path, while also blending in his excellent visual styles, but this newest trailer is a complete shift in tone.
It’s big, loud, crazy and weird and some are even calling it goofy.
And I totally agree and am now that much more interested in the film. I honestly love the contrast Jesse Eisenberg‘s Lex Luthor provides to the overly serious Superman (Henry Cavill) and bitter Batman (Ben Affleck).
I do think Doomsday looks a little unimaginative and I think introducing Wonder Woman might have Snyder biting off more than he can chew, but I’m still all in.
I will warn you that the trailer really does reveal the entire plot and then some, but people have been complaining and commenting saying that they didn’t understand why Batman would ever face off against Superman.
Well, now you know.
