Now you can add another blockbuster to the 2015 release calendar. Paramount Pictures has set a December 25th, 2015 release for Mission: Impossible 5 starring Tom Cruise. This is a bold move for the studio considering the sequel will arrive in theatres just one week after Star Wars: Episode VII.
Specific plot details are currently unknown as of this moment. So far, all we know is that Tom Cruise will be back as Ethan Hunt and Simon Pegg will be back as the humorous Benji Dunn in the Christopher McQuarrie-directed sequel. It’s unclear if Jeremy Renner and Paula Patton will be back, but I’m willing to bet that they’ll sign on soon enough. Drew Pearce (Iron Man 3) wrote the screenplay.
Even though it’s a bold and risky move to release any film a week after Star Wars: Episode VII, I’m sure the film will still draw in a huge crowd considering Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol was released during the 2011 holiday season and became the most successful film of the franchise. I’m sure J.J Abrams doesn’t mind either way because Bad Robot will be producing both films.
On its new release date, Mission: Impossible 5 will go up against Ben Affleck’s gangster adaptation Live By Night and DreamWorks’ Kung Fu Panda 3. Check back for more updates on Mission: Impossible 5 as they come our way. Are you looking forward to this?
