If it failed the first time, there’s a good chance it’ll fail a second time. Fox isn’t hoping to fail a second time so as they are eyeing a younger cast for their Fantastic Four reboot. As of this moment, Allison Williams (HBO’s Girls) is linked to play Sue Storm/The Invisible Woman and Michael B. Jordan (Fruitvale Station) is set to fire up as Johnny Storm/The Human Torch. Who’s going to play Mr. Fantastic? Well, according to The Wrap, The Spectacular Now actor Miles Teller is director Josh Trank’s first choice and current front-runner to play Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic in the reboot.
Miles Teller has been on a roll recently after appearing in Rabbit Hole opposite Nicole Kidman and Aaron Eckhart. The young actor has had supportive roles in Footloose, Project X, and 21 & Over. You can see him now the indie romance The Spectacular Now, which just opened in limited theaters today. Next year he appears in Divergent opposite his The Spectacular Now co-star Shailene Woodley.
Miles Teller would certainly be an interesting choice for the role of Mr. Fantastic. From what I’ve seen him in, he’s been impressive so it’s only a matter of time before he lands a large role like this. An actor has yet to be linked to the role of Ben Grimm/Thing but I’m sure a rumor or maybe an official announcement will make its way online soon enough. What do you think of Miles Teller potentially playing Mr. Fantastic?
UPDATE: Miles Teller will not be in Fantastic Four after all. Director Josh Trank squashed the rumor on his Twitter page. He wrote, “The casting rumor floating around today isn’t true….the end.” Check back for updates as they come our way.
