In some sad news, Los Angeles ABC affiliate ABC7 is reporting that beloved actor Michael Clarke Duncan has died from cardiac arrest. He was 54. Last month, he was hospitalized after suffering a heart attack, and today, his girlfriend Omarosa Manigault-Stallworth has told the news affiliate that he has passed away.
She found him in distress, and after attempting CPR, was sad to have to report that he has passed away. This is a tragic loss for Hollywood as the town loved him, and fans worldwide enjoyed him in films varying from The Green Mile to The Slammin’ Salmon.
I personally met Michael a few times when he used to shop at a store I worked at in Los Angeles, and I can say with full confidence that the man was one of the sweetest I’ve ever met in the business, and a laugh riot in real life. He was always smiling and enjoyed talking about his movies with fans, and was never afraid to stop what he was doing to sign an autograph or take a picture with fans. In recent years, he had been proving his comedic chops, but many will always remember his career-defining role in The Green Mile opposite Tom Hanks.
A true loss for fans and the world at large, you will be missed, Mr. Duncan.
