Michael Bay is one of the most visually-gifted directors working without a doubt. His work on the first Transformers film felt like a big step for him, but then he followed it with two sequels that were mostly garbage, even though I sort of liked Dark of the Moon more than Revenge of the Fallen.
I’m ecstatic for his dark comedy Pain & Gain, but knowing that it came at the cost of a fourth Transformers film kind of ruins it in some aspects.
Bay has recently took to the web to confirm a few things about Transformers 4. The first is that actor Jack Reynor will be Mark Wahlberg‘s co-star. He’s more than likely going to be taking on a role similar to that of one that was previously played by Shia LaBeouf.
Bay also confirmed that this is a sequel and not a reboot:
Transformers 4, is not a reboot. That word has been floating around on the net.
This movie takes place exactly 4 years after the war in Chicago. The story makes a very natural transition, and reason as to why we have a whole new cast. This Transformers will feel very different then the last three. We are embarking on a new trilogy.
Transformers 4 is set to open on June 27th, 2014.
