Melissa McCarthy May Join Bill Murray In ‘St. Vincent De Van Nuys’

Following the financial and critical success of the Oscar-nominated comedy Bridesmaids, Melissa McCarthy is on the rise. Her latest comedy Identity Thief isn’t exactly a critical hit but it sure is a financial hit. So far, the film has made an impressive $115 million. It’s safe to assume that her upcoming summer comedy The Heat will also be a financial success. Next, she is planning to make her co-directorial debut alongside her husband Ben Falcone for the comedy Tammy and then will be appearing in a film with Bill Murray. Wait, what?

Deadline has reported that Melissa McCarthy will be receiving an offer to star opposite Bill Murray in the comedy/drama St. Vincent De Van Nuys. First announced last summer, the film centers on a 12-year-old boy who forms an unlikely friendship with his war veteran neighbor (Murray). It’s been reported that McCarthy will be portraying the boys’ single mother.

It’s uncertain at this point as to when production on St. Vincent De Van Nuys will begin. If she accepts the offer to appear in the film, it may be awhile until we see the film considering that she and her husband are beginning production on Tammy first. More updates on St. Vincent De Van Nuys will be on the way as they’re announced.
