Here’s a bit of unexpected news. Just as we thought that the casting process was over with already for Christopher Nolan’s sci-fi epic Interstellar, another name has been added to the already stellar cast. According to The Playlist, Elysium star Matt Damon will be appearing in the film in a “small, undisclosed role”. Naturally, all character details are currently being kept under wraps. Sources close to The Playlist have noted that Damon will only be shooting on the project for two weeks in Iceland.
Damon joins the cast that includes Matthew McConaughey, Anne Hathaway, Casey Affleck, Jessica Chastain, Michael Caine, Ellen Burstyn,Topher Grace, Wes Bentley, Bill Irwin, Mackenzie Foy, John Lithgow, and David Oyelowo.
Damon next appears in a small role in Terry Gilliam’s The Zero Theorem, which is set to premiere at the Venice Film Festival this fall. The Playlist also reports that Damon is prepping for his directorial debut titled The Foreigner. The film, penned by Oscar-winning screenwriter Chris Terrio (Argo), is based on a 2008 New Yorker article by David Grann that tells the true story of a man who is murdered in Guatemala during escalating violent conflict. He leaves behind videotape after his death that leaves an impact after a devastating secret circling his murder is revealed. The project is set up at Paramount and Indian Paintbrush.
Interstellar follows a group of explorers who travel through a wormhole and into another dimension. The film is currently in production and will arrive in conventional and IMAX theaters on November 7th, 2014. Check back for more updates as they come our way.
