Despite various sources saying Kick-Ass 2 is a no-go; comic-book creator Mark Millar said in a recent interview with The Daily Record that Kick-Ass 2 production is set to start-up sometime this summer.
Apparently Kick-Ass 2 will be part of a possible Kick-Ass trilogy. He also goes on to mention a few other crazy projects that range from something called American Jesus to a combination of Ocean’s Eleven and X-Men, which will be called Supercrooks.
Check out a snippet of the interview below:
“We shoot Kick-Ass 2 and American Jesus this summer. Then Matthew and I have Secret Service, which is a neddy James Bond,”
“If you are doing a movie about the return of Jesus as the Bible prophesied in the Book of Revelation, you have got to do it straight and treat it with dignity. I’m not taking the p***. It will be treated like a proper film.
“I have never been cool. I am a Catholic and go to mass. A lot of people are surprised because much of my work is irreverent and expect the same with American Jesus. But I want it to be a beautiful film.
“A film about the returned Jesus Christ has amazing artistic potential. Jesus shows up in the middle of the financial crisis, America is in turmoil and the Eurozone is collapsing. They are quite apocalyptic times that we are living in with the gap between rich and poor.
“It is the reverse of the Omen, which is about a kid who finds out he is the anti-Christ. This is a kid who finds out he is Jesus Christ.”
One thing that has been coming up every time Kick-Ass 2 is mentioned is that Matthew Vaughn will most-likely only return as a producer and not a director. That would be a big step in the wrong direction if you ask me, but who knows what they’ll actually end up doing.
Are you looking forward to another Kick-Ass or do you think they should stick to the one-and-done procedure?
