Weirder things have happened than a film about male stripping getting adapted to Broadway for a musical.
A few days ago Reid Carolin, who penned the script, said this:
“We are working on it as a Broadway show, which would be a different story, more of a romp, more of a fun night out at a club with a story. I’m almost more excited about that than the movie because I think it’s the perfect thing for women to go see on Broadway, to be participants in the show.”
Had this been last year I’d probably dismiss this as just talk, but after seeing the film (and loving it, my review here) and more importantly its big reaction on the audiences, it opened at number two with almost $40 million dollars, suddenly a musical doesn’t seem out of the cards at all.
Magic Mike: The Musical could end up being very lucrative and with Channing Tatum and Steven Soderbergh on board as producers I bet it won’t turn out that bad.
Have you seen the film yet? Would you want to see it in musical form?
