‘Mad Men’ Creator Matthew Weiner To Direct ‘You Are Here’

Mad Men creator Matthew Weiner doesn’t have too much to be down about these days.  After storming AMC with his runaway hit Mad Men and winning four straight dramatic Emmys for the first four seasons of the show, it seems he has another project that he’s been trying to get going without much success, but his fortune may quickly change.  Weiner is looking to write and direct a romantic comedy called You Are Here and to get things going, he has cast Owen Wilson, Zach Galifianakis in the film, and THR says the word is Amy Poehler is in talks to co-star.

Getting some of the proven names in comedy attached to your movie should help get it made, so I’m sure it’s not too long before the official announcement is made on the film.  The movie is said to be a dramedy that focuses on a weatherman who relies on his best buddy to provide the good times.  When his buddy inherits a business and land from his father, the weatherman takes a look at his own life.

While he may be best known of the biting drama he provides on Mad Men and The Sopranos back when it was on, but I think the type of humor he uses on Mad Men shows he has some comedic chops.  He also wrote for one of my favorite shows that didn’t last long on Fox, Andy Richter Controls the Universe.  After the season 5 premiere of Mad Men was the most viewed episode yet, I imagine it’s only a matter of time before this project becomes a reality, probably when post production of Mad Men ends in the next 2 months.
