Today, there is a new trailer for a film that has slipped under the radar for most, Lock-Out starring Guy Pearce. One of the film’s co-writers is the action aficionado Luc Besson, who is responsible for The Transporter films, Taken, the District B-13 films, and Leon: The Professional. Here’s the synopsis:
“A man wrongly convicted of conspiracy to commit espionage against the U.S. is offered his freedom if he can rescue the president’s daughter from an outer space prison taken over by violent inmates.”
Yeah, it looks like it’s Escape From Space Prison: The New Adventures of Snake Plissken, but I don’t see how that’s a bad thing. The F/X look like they are a big part of the show, and it looks like a pretty kick-ass space epic from the look of it. Guy Pearce seems to do his best work in genre films (Ravenous, The Proposition) so I’m especially excited to check this one out. The film is directed by James Mather and Stephen St. Leger, who also co-wrote the script with Besson, this will be their first feature film. Lock-Out opens in theaters stateside April 20th, 2012.
