Cloud Atlas is a mesmerizing and bold film that puts an incredible amount faith in the viewer. It’s a film that doesn’t spoon-feed the story, but instead hopes that you’ll want to discover it. It’s beyond rewarding and something that you’ll want to see again and again, to pick up on the minor details and to appreciate some of the film’s stronger scenes.
It really sucks seeing the film flop at the box office, even though it ended up being the highest grosser of the new releases this past weekend. The film’s rumored $100 million dollar budget is out of reach in the US at this point, which means it’ll need to rely on overseas money and the home video market. It’s still not too late to go out and support such a game-changer. The big screen is a must and I encourage you to seek it out before it’s too late.
To help persuade you I’ve embedded the film’s score below (via Spotify), which was composed by Tom Tykwer, Johnny Klimek and Reinhold Heil. My favorite track is still #1, but the last few tracks are a great representation of some of the finer moments in the film.
Give it a listen and let me know which track is your favorite and what you thought of the movie, if you saw it.
