The latest Tom Cruise-starring sci-fi action film Oblivion is set to hit theaters on April 19th, 2013. It was originally supposed to open a week earlier in an exclusive IMAX engagement, but it looks like those plans have been scrapped and we’ll now be seeing it on all screens come the 19th.
Despite the first two trailers kind of sucking I must admit that the latest trailer has me slightly intrigued. I won’t be too surprised if TRON: Legacy director Joseph Kosinski‘s film ends up sinking like a stone, both thematically and financially, but I also wouldn’t be too shocked to find something enjoyable in the film.
So much of the visuals look great, while the story reveal is leaving me some bad vibes. Hopefully the two blend well once it’s all said and done.
One thing that has had me constantly keeping an eye on the film is the involvement of M83. They worked on the soundtrack, with band member Anthony Gonzalez pairing up with TRON: Uprising composer Joseph Trapanese to score most of the film.
Today we’ve got our first glimpse at one of the songs from the film, which is titled StarWaves. I like it, even if it reminds me a lot of John Murphy‘s score for Sunshine. I know for sure after listening to this teaser track that I’ll be picking up the score when it hits on April 9th.
Will you be purchasing it or seeing the film?
