Director Joe Carnahan follows up The A-Team and Smokin’ Aces with a much smaller production titled The Grey. The film re-teams Carnahan with Liam Neeson and it’s about a group of oil-riggers that are stranded in the middle of the sub-arctic tundra and must survive an onslaught of deadly wolves.
I like to think of this one as a sidestep story of Taken like Taken: Dangerous Wolves Adventure or something like that. As seen towards the last stretch of the trailer Mr. Neeson gets serious and attaches broken glass bottles to his bare hands in preparation for a boxing battle with one of the wolves, presumably the leader.
The trailer isn’t the best, but it certainty gets some ideas flowing. I hope Carnahan and Neeson go all the way with The Grey because I would really love to see a brutal and violent man vs. wolves’ story and not some sappy human motivation piece.
The Grey also stars Dallas Roberts, James Badge Dale, Dermot Mulroney and Frank Grillo. The film opens on January 27th, 2012.

A group of oil-rig roughnecks are left stranded on the sub-arctic tundra after their plane experiences a complete mechanical failure and crashes into the remote Alaskan wilderness. The survivors, battling mortal injuries, biting cold and ravenous hunger, are relentlessly hunted and pursued by a vicious pack of rogue wolves.
