Leonardo DiCaprio Taking A Break From Acting

I honestly think Leonardo DiCaprio is one of the best American actors currently working. His work usually ranges from good to great, with a bad performance being very rare among his impressive list of films. Recently he stole the show in Quentin Tarantino‘s Django Unchained and now we have Martin Scorsese‘s The Wolf of Wall Street to look forward to as well as Baz Luhrmann‘s long-delayed The Great Gatsby.

DiCaprio isn’t the fastest worker in Hollywood. He usually focuses on quality over quantity, which is why he only appears in one or two films a year. I’m perfectly fine with that, because it allows him to completely become the character that he’s playing. He’s not one to take a quick cameo role or a supporting role without much meat on it. He’s always dedicated to the film he’s working on.

It’s too bad that he still doesn’t have a proper Oscar under his belt, but I think the audiences know just how good he is and he doesn’t need a piece of gold to prove it anymore.

That being said, it looks like the star might take an extended leave from his career to focus on helping others around the world.

Here’s a quote:

I am a bit drained. I’m now going to take a long, long break. I’ve done three films in two years and I’m just worn out. I would like to improve the world a bit. I will fly around the world doing good for the environment.

While that upsets me as a movie fan it certainly doesn’t bother me knowing that he plans on doing the world some good during his time off. He’s more than earned whatever amount of time off he wants. I just hope he comes back soon, because there aren’t that many actors of his caliber left.
