Ridley Scott‘s Prometheus has been the talk of the town ever since the full-length trailer hit not too long ago. One thing worth noting is how not one lick of advertising has yet to actually mention Alien. We all know the two films tie in closely together or at least take place in the same world, but not one trailer has actually mentioned its relation to Scott’s sci-fi classic.
Now, the latest TV spot goes on to mention Alien as well as a few of Scott’s other films that you might have heard of: Blade Runner and Gladiator. It’s nice to see Fox pulling out all of the stops for Prometheus because it’s going to need it if it wants to compete with this summer’s comic-book blockbusters like The Amazing Spider-Man, The Avengers and obviously The Dark Knight Rises.
I personally think Prometheus looks better than all three, but I’m not sure how the everyday moviegoer is reacting to the recent wave of TV spots and trailers. Hopefully the mention of some of Scott’s previous works will help get more people anticipating what is hopefully going to be the best film of the summer.
Prometheus stars Charlize Theron, Noomi Rapace, Michael Fassbender, Idris Elba and Guy Pearce.
It will open up in IMAX 3D theaters on June 8th, 2012.
