The President of Marvel Studios Kevin Feige sat down with Bloomberg to talk about the future of Marvel properties as films, including the projects we know about (Iron Man 3, Thor 2, Captain America 2) and two movies he says haven’t been announced, although he doesn’t say which two. Here’s what he had to say:
“We want to do two films a year. Avengers is our only film this year, but in a week and a half we begin filming Iron Man 3. By the end of the summer we’ll be working on the next Thor film, early next year the next Captain America film. Those are the three we’ve announced so far; we’ve got two beyond that that we haven’t announced yet, but we’re working on.”
Now, fans have got to wonder if one of those two films is The Avengers 2 which is most definitely happening, but the last movie is open to speculation as to what it will be. Here’s the schedule, as Marvel has set it:
Iron Man 3 will open May 3rd, 2013, currently in production. After that, Thor 2 will hit just in time for Thanksgiving on November 15th, 2013, and the first Marvel film of 2014 will be Captain America 2 on April 4th. The first mystery film has a date of May 16th, just 6 weeks after Captain America 2. Marvel has mentioned Doctor Strange before, and there’s always Ant Man, although that looks like it will be pushed back while Edgar Wright does The End of the World which looks like it’s gearing up for production. I suppose we’ll see when Marvel makes an announcement, probably pretty soon.
