Jurassic World is by far the most over-hyped movie of the summer and one of my biggest disappointments of the year. It’s not that the movie is horrible, but it’s far from good and the massive amounts of money that it keeps making suggests that I am in the minority with that opinion.
And that’s okay, because now that the film keeps crushing records worldwide Universal thought that it would be a good idea to confirm the sequel, which is hitting on June 22nd of 2018.
Colin Trevorrow won’t be back directing (thankfully), but he will be writing the sequel with Jurassic World writer Derek Connolly.
That’s the worst part about the news. The direction in Jurassic World was mostly flavorless and bland, but the writing was just downright awful, constantly stealing from the original film without any of that heart or emotion that made us cling to that film so dearly in the first place.
Now, someone else is going to have to make a coherent film from the same guys that ruined the first one.
Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard are confirmed to return too, which means that the chemistry-less relationship will be advancing!
