The Hunger Games franchise, adapted from Suzanne Collins‘ trilogy, has already attracted a slew of talent to portray characters such as Jennifer Lawrence, Woody Harrelson, Donald Sutherland, Stanley Tucci, Elizabeth Banks, Philip Seymour Hoffman, and Jeffrey Wright. According to Deadline, it appears that another talented actress is joining the cast of the young adult franchise.
Lionsgate and director Francis Lawrence are reportedly eyeing Oscar-nominated actress Julianne Moore to play President Alma Coin in The Hunger Games: Mockingjay. Alma Coin is the president of District 13 who leads a rebellion against the Capitol and plays a key role in the finale.
Julianne Moore has been on a roll as of late. She is just coming off her Emmy-winning performance as Sarah Palin in HBO’s Game Change. Next she appears as the twistedly religious mother in the Kim Pierce-directed remake of Carrie, stars opposite Jeff Bridges in The Seventh Son, and Joseph Gordon Levitt’s directorial debut Don Jon.
Part one of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay arrives in theaters on November 21st, 2014 and part two arrives on November 20th, 2015. What do you think of the casting?
