Joss Whedon recently finished filming the S.H.I.E.L.D TV pilot show. When asked about it he revealed the following quote:
“I’m excited about the show because it’s a very hopeful show,” he said. “It’s not about murder, and it’s not about crime, and it’s not people looking into their own belly buttons. It’s about people who are trying to help each other, and that’s one of the things I loved about comic books. They had costumes and the villains were cool [but] they stood for something, and I like doing a show that does that.”
I’m not exactly sure how to react to the quote. I thought the whole Shield elements in the pre-Avengers movies were incredibly procedural and flat and the idea of seeing that expanded upon on television just sounds like an awful idea.
Whedon has already mentioned that this will be its own show and not something simply to promote Thor: The Dark World or Captain America: Winter Soldier, so that means I’m naturally very uninterested in the whole idea.
Is any of our readers out their actually preparing their DVR’s for this upcoming show or will you only tune into the first episode to see what it’s all about?
