Earlier this year, it was reported that Joseph Gordon-Levitt was in talks for the lead role in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, but ended up turning it down and took a role in Sin City: A Dame To Kill For instead. Now it appears that Marvel is still hoping to bring the actor into their universe. Latino Review posted a rumor earlier this week that states Gordon-Levitt is in talks for the titular lead in Doctor Strange, a film that will be part of Marvel’s “Phase Three” along with Edgar Wright’s Ant-Man.
It’s very likely that Doctor Strange will be officially announced during Marvel’s panel at San Diego Comic-Con this week and will be taking up one of those release date slots that were reserved by Marvel last month. An official casting announcement seems unlikely right off the bat, but you never know.
Although it would be fascinating to see Gordon-Levitt in the role, let’s not hold our breath on this one. Stay tuned for more information.
