According to Twitch, Joseph Gordon-Levitt will be walking a very fine line between life and death for director Robert Zemeckis (Forrest Gump and Flight). According to the source, Gordon-Levitt is in final negotiations to take the lead role in To Reach The Clouds, a 3D adaptation of Philip Petit’s memoir of his daring and successful attempt to walk across a steel wire between New York City’s Twin Towers in 1974.
As you may recall, Petit was the subject of the 2008 documentary Man on Wire, however this film will an adaptation of the memoir, which reveals more details about Petit’s preparation for the stunt. He did this without permission, which led to his arrest as he successfully made his way across the wire.
This’ll surely make a great film, especially in the hands of Zemeckis, who’s supposedly been planning on adapting the memoir since 2011. Also, I can’t even begin to imagine the panic attacks this film will induce, as the planned 3D aspect of the project will probably make us feel like we’re walking across the wire along with Petit. Are you looking forward to this?
