Director Jonathan Liebesman has been in the news every day lately it seems, whether he’s talking about the impending release of Wrath of the Titans at the end of the month, his already controversial take on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles for Michael Bay‘s Platinum Dunes production company.
Through all of that, Liebesman spoke to Collider about the sequel to the disappointing Battle: Los Angeles, which still managed to make $200 million worldwide, which is apparently enough to warrant a sequel. Liebesman said:
“We’ve just started the script now, so that’s where we are. We have just begun the script. Just because I don’t want the studio to get pissed at me, I’m not sure what I can and can’t say about it. But what’s exciting is it sounds like the budget will be as big. They’re really going to make it an event.”
I personally thought the action and F/X were well done, but the movie as a whole had a very shallow feeling throughout, so hopefully they have different writers working on this one. That one is still probably a while out, however, as it seems Ninja Turtles is on the fast track to production.
