Baz Luhrmann‘s The Great Gatsby is finally becoming something to keep an eye on. After production troubles and a release date change almost everyone forgot about Luhrmann’s adaptation of the F. Scott Fitzgerald novel, because releasing studio WB felt the need to ignore the film’s existence.

Well, here we are inching closer to 2013 and we’ve finally been showered with new images, a couple character posters and more importantly a second trailer.

Now word is coming from Twitter that musician Jay-Z will be scoring the film, even though Craig Armstrong‘s name is listed under the film’s credits. Jeymes Samuel tweeted the following:

Jay-Z and myself have been working tirelessly on the score for the upcoming #CLASSIC The Great Gatsby! It is too DOPE for words!

We’ve already heard Jay-Z‘s songs grace both trailers and I must say that I’m totally digging the hip-hop vibe Luhrmann is going for. I’m looking forward to hearing what Jay-Z eventually comes up with and seeing just how much he’s a part of the film’s score or soundtrack.

With that news we also have the following new images:
