Michael Dowse‘s Goon was an absolute blood-soaked comedic masterpiece. Seann William Scott nailed the film as the leading man both with a craving for fist-to-face bloodbaths as well as a soft and quiet conversation over a beer at a bar.
And now co-star Jay Baruchel will be stepping up to the plate and making his directorial debut on the sequel, which he also co-wrote.
I’m not exactly sure how I feel about a sequel to such a rare gem of a sports comedy. Can they recapture that same magic of the first?
Maybe.
At least Baruchel, William Scott and others will return, plus Evan Goldberg will be producing, which is usually a good sign.
The film starts production in Toronto in June.
