Independent Review: NSFW Short Film – “Mister Video”

This is the first time we’ve brought you a short film, but it’s one that needs to be seen.  Starring British comedian Jim Tavare, Lindsay Shelton, Todd Johnston, and Traford Burke.  Mister Video is a short film from the director of Black Devil Doll, Jonathan Lewis, and his longtime collaborator/camera man Jerry Franck, who co-directed the short, with Franck writing the script.

Rarely do shorts get the recognition they deserve, often due to a lack of distribution.  Filmmakers Lewis and Franck have decided to put the short on Vimeo for visibility, while they continue to work on various productions in preparation for upcoming feature films.  I actually worked on this short, shot in March 2010, at Spudic’s Video Empire, a sadly defunct Los Angeles video store that specialized in hard to find VHS tapes.  I spent most of my time on set cleaning up after F/X artist Scott Dawson, and preparing the location for the bloodletting.

It’s only 15 minutes long, with a fun story and a nostalgia for days past of VHS tape stores that are in extreme danger of becoming extinct altogether, and a shocking conclusion involving blood.  Take a minute and watch the video below, and if you like it, be sure to like Mister Video on Facebook.
