Magnolia Pictures has revealed the first trailer for Kevin Macdonald’s adaptation of Meg Rosoff’s novel How I Live Now starring Saoirse Ronan. The film co-stars George MacKay, Harley Bird, Natasha Jonas, and Tom Holland. Check out the trailer below.
Saoirse Ronan stars as Daisy, an American teenager who is sent to England to stay with her aunt and her cousins. At first she is alienated but soon finds comfort in her surroundings after she falls for the handsome Edmund (George MacKay). Her summer soon takes a dramatic turn as a 21st century war breaks out in England while her aunt is stuck in Norway. Daisy must embark on a journey in order to be reunited with Edmund and her family after they are separated.
At first I was expecting this to be another run-of-the-mill teen romance, where a young woman meets and falls for a handsome guy, but it quickly takes a more interesting turn. Kevin Macdonald has already established himself as a talented filmmaker with films such as The Last King of Scotland and State of Play. It also helps that the film stars the immensely talented Saoirse Ronan. Consider me interested.
How I Live Now will be released in the UK this October. Magnolia Pictures has the North American distribution rights but a release date hasn’t been set.
