The Expendables is an odd series. The first film tried to copy and recreate the look and feel of all of those old eighties and nineties R-rated action films that we grew up on and loved, without ever actually becoming one.
Sylvester Stallone and his ever-growing team have failed to make a successful action film that can compare to the work that they did in the past, yet Lionsgate has allowed them to make sequel after sequel, with the third entry settling for a PG-13 rating, yet ended up being a lot of cheesy fun.
Now, it looks like Hulk Hogan wants to join in on the old man gatherings as the main bad guy of The Expendables 4, which I didn’t even know was a for sure thing.
It’s all just talk between Hogan and Stallone at this point, but talk (and money) usually equates to something actually happening.
Here’s the quote that started it all:
We’re trying to figure out a way to maybe turn me into the most evil man in the world. Y’know, Stallone gave me my first break and he’s been a great friend. We had a great conversation, talking about the possibilities. ‘Can I still run, can I still jump?’ Well, not as fast or not as high, but I think Hollywood could find a good stunt man to help me out.
