The cast for Guy Ritchie’s film adaptation of the 1960s spy series The Man From U.N.C.L.E. keeps growing as production nears. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Cloud Atlas star Hugh Grant has joined the cast that already includes Henry Cavill, Armie Hammer, Alicia Vikander, and Elizabeth Debicki. According to the report, Grant will be playing the lead of the British Naval Intelligence.
The plot of the film is unknown at this point but the original series centered on two agents of United Network Command for Law Enforcement (U.N.C.L.E.) who fight the forces of Technological Hierarchy for the Removal of Undesirables and the Subjugation of Humanity (T.H.R.U.S.H.).
It’s nice to see that Hugh Grant is branching out. He has been low key as of late, only appearing in a surprising role in Cloud Atlas and doing some voice work for the animated feature Pirates! Band of Misfits. Production for The Man From U.N.C.L.E. is expected to begin next month for a 2014 release.
