Great news today for horror fans, as the highly anticipated anthology horror film Chillerama scored distribution today via Image Entertainment. For those that don’t know, Chillerama consists of four segments from some of the hottest directors in horror, about a drive in movie theater on its last night, as it prepares to show four films so dangerous and wild, they haven’t been shown in years. With the last night upon him, the drive-in owner (Richard Riehle, picture above) throws all the rules out the windows and decides to show the films that humanity can’t handle.
First is Tim Sullivan’s (2001 Maniacs remake) spoof of greasers in the world of gay “bear” culture, called I Was a Teenage Warebear. After that, Adam Rifkin’s Wadzilla will blow people’s minds as the spoof of 50’s monster movies centers on a man with a raised sperm count, and one nasty giant sperm that attacks the city of New York, featuring special F/X work from the genius Chiodo Brothers (Killer Klowns from Outer Space).
Next is the highly controversial (already) Diary of Anne Frankenstein by new genre stalwart Adam Green, centering on Hitler’s foray into making “the ultimate war machine”, a Frankenstein-style monster in his black and white film starring Joel David Moore (Hatchet).
Last but definitely not least is Joe Lynch’s Zom-B-Movie, a spoof of zombie films from the 70’s and 80’s, so it’s sure to be wild and gory.
Word is Imagine Entertainment is planning a theatrical release this fall, with a possible roadshow tour across the US, followed by an eventual DVD/Blu-Ray release. Chillerama is one of my most anticipated films of the year, I personally can’t wait to see what these four crazy bastards have cooked up for us. Which segment are you most looking forward to?
