Obviously when you have a good thing such as a break out movie of the summer you would try and keep it rolling. Therefore make a sequel. That only makes sense. However when you have something that is passable the first time, you shouldn’t keep it rolling. Just like Universal going ahead with Bridesmaids 2 with or without Kristen Wiig. Of course that fits almost every other studio, especially Warner Bros. with their The Hangover, The Hangover Part II and the soon to be The Hangover Part III.
Today is no different. THR reports that Horrible Bosses is going to have a sequel. Screenwriters John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein have both just signed deals to write it. Expect the main cast, Jason Bateman, Charlie Day and Jason Sudeikis, to be back at the helm of it all.
The studio is currently in talks to bring back director Seth Gordon. Seeing as he did a pretty good job on the first one. Horrible Bosses did amazing at the box office. It had a production budget of $35 million yet it was capable of racking up $209 million worldwide. How the heck it was capable of racking in that much money is beyond me. The most surprising feature with the money part was that it was a rated-R film. To see a rated-R film bring in that much is awesome. Bridesmaids was able to hit that accomplishment. Hence why they are making a sequel to that as well.
Personally, I’m not looking forward to there being another Horrible Bosses. I was one that was stoked to see Horrible Bosses when it hit theaters only to be let down like crazy. In fact I was pissed off at how terrible it was.
How do you feel about the thought of a Horrible Bosses 2?
