Green Band Trailer For ‘Evil Dead’ Tones Down The Gore

One of the most surprisingly awesome trailers in recent memory is the red band trailer for Fede Alvarez’s upcoming Evil Dead remake. I admittedly had little hopes for this one, but the trailer got me curious and the announcement of no CGI made it even better.

Now, Sony is backpedaling and releasing a mostly blood-free green band trailer, which should play just fine for those too afraid to witness literally buckets and buckets of blood getting distributed via limb dismemberment and even puking! Talk about creativity.

Anyways, what sticks out about this particular trailer is its overall effectiveness. It still gets by without showing any of the good stuff and that’s always a promising think to keep in mind. Usually R-rated horror films work aces when showing off red band clips, but then the green band clips leave you wanting something more.

This doesn’t seem to be the case with Evil Dead, because I’d say that this green band trailer plays just as well, hinting at the over-the-top kills and gore, while also keeping that freaky vibe constantly coming at you with quick camera movement and a general idea of how to make the demons both creepy and sort of bad ass.

Evil Dead opens on April 12th, 2013.
