Jon Chu‘s G.I. Joe: Retaliation was all ready and set for its June 29th, 2012 release date, with TV spots surfacing and tons of outdoor promotion, but now Paramount has decided to delay the film by a whole 9 months! The new date for the second installment in the Hasbro series will hit theaters on March 29th, 2013.
Deadline reports that reason for the delay is because they want to post-convert the film to 3D to enhance its foreign intake, since China and Russia keep adding tons of 3D theaters, but I’m in skeptical camp with everyone else. Studios don’t delay big-budget films like this unless they suck. Especially since they spent a hefty amount of cash for a Super Bowl spot and have already started promoting the hell out of the film.
You don’t just push a film back unless there are some quality issues that need addressing.
Channing Tatum, Dwayne Johnson and Bruce Willis star in G.I. Joe: Retaliation, which is going back on the burner to cook for a little longer.
Expect more clips, videos and photos from Paramount in the months to come to keep the film fresh in your memory!
