You know, I was actually starting to come around to Bridesmaids director Paul Feig‘s The Heat, starring Melissa McCarthy and Sandra Bullock. The initial trailer wasn’t too revealing and kind of hit-or-mess when it came to delivering some actually funny jokes, but the red band trailer knocked my socks off.
The recent international red band trailer played off of mostly re-used footage from the first red band trailer, but it did insert a new gag or two along the way.
Point being I was looking forward to the film’s April 5th release, but now I’m going to have to wait until June 28th. It will now face-off against White House Down and Kick-Ass 2.
This postponement should be met with positive responses, because usually when a studio bumps a comedy into the dead heat of summer that means that they believe in it enough to hold its own against the blockbusters.
The Heat just might have enough raunchy humor and buddy-buddy cop action to draw crowds away from a sequel nobody asked for and that second White House movie.
