I can’t believe we’re just a few short months away from seeing Peter Jackson‘s long-talked about The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. I honestly thought this day would never come, but here we are!
There’s a new TV spot that has been released that is marketing more towards the general crowd and not so much the already established fan-base. I like it, because I consider myself somewhere in the middle, having really loved the Lord of the Rings films and books, but never having read The Hobbit.
There’s also this quote from Jackson himself that discusses the running time of the film:
It’s looking like it’s going to be about ten minutes shorter than Fellowship was. So it’s going to be officially our shortest Middle Earth yet. I mean, Fellowship was just under three hours and this is about 2 hours 40 minutes at the moment.
Interesting, but not all that surprising when you think of how many of Jackson’s films are lengthy. I’m getting less and less worried about Jackson filling up the trilogy with enough content to last three films, because everything on display in this new TV spot is spectacular.
The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey opens on December 14th, 2012.
