First Trailer For Paul Feig’s ‘Ghostbusters’ Reboot Disappoints

The Heat and Spy director Paul Feig is giving us a Ghostbusters sequel/reboot with an all-female cast, featuring Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones.

I for one am excited to see all of these very talented females mix and mingle under Feigs’ direction, while also seeing what Feig can do to bring the Ghostbusters name back into the spotlight after years and years of people waiting for a reboot/sequel.

Feig’s new film also brings us Chris Hemsworth as the secretary, which again plays on the whole gender swap.

I’ve been honestly excited and interested to see what Feig came up with, because I believe that he’s a very talented writer and director and that his films always feature strong and talented female performances.

And here I sit, disappointed with what I just watched.

I’ve never been a huge Ghostbusters fan, but I’ve always enjoyed Feig’s work, which makes me worried, because I didn’t laugh once while viewing the first trailer.

Perhaps it’s cut in a way that just doesn’t speak to me or has Feig actually remade a film that we’ve already seen, but with a female cast instead of males? I want to believe that second statement isn’t true, but the trailer simply reminds me that Ghostbusters is a popular franchise that I’ve never cared for and that this new entry in the series looks like more of the same.
