Morten Tyldum‘s Passengers is a film that I haven’t been following all too much, but am still very excited to check out.
I do remember hearing about a big-budget sci-fi film getting the green-light based on stars Chris Pratt and Jennifer Lawrence‘s star power alone, especially after Pratt hit a home run at the box office with Jurassic World.
I also remember hearing about the script, which was penned by Jon Spaihts.
Those factors alone had me psyched and now the trailer has landed and reassured those initial beats of excitement.
I love how slick and flashy this film looks and I love how there’s both an edgy-looking sci-fi film and a focused romance.
There’s also a lot of questions coming out of the trailer, such as what the heck is happening, why did they wake up early and what are they trying to save the ship from?
Apparently early plot details leaked sometime ago and I am going to purposely not look into those.
Also, I’ve been told by several filmmakers that this features one of the best-written scripts in ages.
So yeah, let’s start talking about this one before it hits screens this December.
On a routine journey through space to a new home, two passengers, sleeping in suspended animation, are awakened 90 years too early when their ship malfunctions. As Jim (Chris Pratt) and Aurora (Jennifer Lawrence) face living the rest of their lives on board, with every luxury they could ever ask for, they begin to fall for each other, unable to deny their intense attraction… until they discover the ship is in grave danger. With the lives of 5000 sleeping passengers at stake, only Jim and Aurora can save them all.
