Lionsgate will be kicking off 2014 with a version of Frankenstein we haven’t seen before: Aaron Eckhart with horrible make-up. The film, based on the graphic novel by Kevin Grievous, looks like your typical horror action flick much like the Underworld series or Priest. You don’t believe me? Check out the trailer for yourself, which just made its way online.
Set in the present where vigilant gargoyles and ferocious demons rage in a battle for ultimate power, Victor Frankenstein’s creation Adam (Aaron Eckhart) finds himself caught in the middle as both sides race to discover the secret to his immortality.
Just in case you were wondering, Stuart Beattie (writer for G.I. Joe: Rise of the Cobra) wrote and directed this. The fact that this will be released at the beginning of the year doesn’t give me much hope. While I hope there’s a possibility that this will at least be an entertaining and mindless action flick, I have a strange feeling that this’ll be just mindless. Bill Nighy, Yvonne Strahovski, Miranda Otto, Jai Courtney, Socratis Otto, Mahesh Jadu, Caitlin Stasey, and Aden Young co-star.
I, Frankenstein opens in theaters in 2D and 3D on January 24th, 2014. What do you think?
