First Trailer For Diablo Cody’s Directorial Debut ‘Paradise’

The Film Stage has recently revealed the first trailer for Diablo Cody’s upcoming comedy Paradise, which stars Julianne Hough (Rock of Ages) as a young woman who has a crisis of faith. Judging from the trailer, it looks like the Oscar-winning screenwriter’s directorial debut is a bit more lighthearted but still contains her signature witticism. Check out the trailer below.

The film, formerly titled Lamb of God, centers on a young Christian woman named Lamb (Hough) who suffers severe burns from a devastating plane crash that leads to a spiritual crisis and a trip to Las Vegas to enjoy the sinful side of life. Oscar-winning actress Octavia Spencer portrays a craps dealer and Russell Brand portrays a bartender, both of whom Lamb befriends in Vegas. Nick Offerman (Parks and Recreation) and Holly Hunter (The Piano) portray Lamb’s overbearing conservative parents.

Paradise premieres on DirecTV on August 8th before it arrives in theaters on October 18th. What do you think of the trailer?
