Director David Gordon Green hasn’t had the most successful film career as of late. He excelled in the comedy genre right off the bat with the mostly-liked film Pineapple Express. Then he went on to do Your Highness and The Sitter and almost everyone reacted negatively to those films.
I’m one of those rare guys that enjoyed both films for what they were. Your Highness is a hilariously mean-spirited fantasy stoner comedy and The Sitter is furthering proof that Jonah Hill can carry almost any R-rated comedy if teamed up with an energetic supporting cast, like say Sam Rockwell.
Now, it looks like Green is returning to a much smaller playing field, focusing his latest comedy on two men instead of a dozen cast and crew members. The film is called Prince Avalanche and it stars Paul Rudd and Emile Hirsch.
The first trailer is here and I can’t help but feel mostly dissatisfied with it. It’s not really that funny at all, but most of the scenes seem extremely out of context.
I hope the end result is good, because as far as I’m concerned Mr. Green has been on a comedic roll.
