The first trailer for Ben Affleck‘s anticipated directorial follow-up to The Town is online, and it gives audiences a good look at its period setting, the cast, and the basic set up of the story. During the Iranian revolution of 1979, six Americans get trapped at the house of the Canadian ambassador. ‘Exfiltration’ expert for the CIA Tony Mendez (Ben Affleck) is called in to solve the situation, and he does so in a very clever way.
Staging production on a fake science fiction film named Argo, Mendez plans to bring a crew over to Iran in order to get the six Americans out safely. He enrolls the help of John Chambers (John Goodman) and Lester Siegel (Alan Arkin) to help him make the fake movie, while his CIA handler (Bryan Cranston) fights to keep the mission a secret. Affleck has hit a few home runs behind the camera, and this project has been eagerly anticipated by a lot of people. It definitely looks tense, and I hope it will turn out to be a good movie, he definitely has the cast and know-how to make that happen. Only time will tell. Until then, check out the trailer:
