Wait a sec, is comedy director Adam McKay really drifting into drama with his latest film The Big Short?
The financial drama, which centers around the faulty housing market stars Ryan Gosling, Christian Bale, Brad Pitt and Steve Carell and it’s based on a book from the same writer that gave us Moneyball.
And if you think about it there’s definitely a similar tone and style at play here, with lots of flashbacks to not only Moneyball, but also a weird blend of Margin Call and maybe even The Wolf of Wall Street.
The Big Short is definitely taking itself more serious, but the humor is there underneath all of those hair pieces and makeup.
I’m still not sure what to make of this, but I’ll be seeing it this Christmas.
