First Poster for Bobcat Goldthwait’s “God Bless America”

Comedian and film maker Bobcat Goldthwait might be best remembered for his role as Zed in the Police Academy films, but in recent years, he has been garnering acclaim for his career as a director, especially for his last film, the very dark, but very funny World’s Greatest Dad starring Robin Williams.

Magnet Releasing has put out the first poster for the film, as well as a synopsis, which sounds deliciously Bobcat.  See for yourself:

Loveless, jobless and possibly terminally ill, Frank (Joel Murray) has had enough of the downward spiral of America. With nothing left to lose, Frank takes his gun and decides to off the stupidest, cruellest and most repellent members of society with an unusual accomplice: 16-year-old Roxy (Tara Lynne Barr), who shares his sense of rage and disenfranchisement. From stand-up comedian and director Bobcat Goldthwait comes a scathing and hilarious attack on all that is sacred in the United States of America.

Sounds like a very dark, but possibly hilarious, comedy from Goldthwait, and I’m curious to see exactly how far he goes, as World’s Greatest Dad had some very cringe inducing moments, but it was a joy to watch throughout.  The film will open on VOD April 6th, and it will get a limited theatrical release a few weeks later on May 11th.  In the meantime, stay tuned, as soon as an official trailer is online, we’ll be sure to bring it right to you.
