One thing a lot of people really didn’t care for in Marc Webb‘s The Amazing Spider-Man was the suit. I get their complaints, because it was quite intricate for some high school kid with limited funding to suddenly whip up on a Saturday night. But at the same time I liked it and I appreciated it for taking a different direction than the previous suits from the original trilogy.
Today we’ve got our first look at the new suit for The Amazing Spider-Man 2. The image posted above shows us that Webb and his team are going for a much more traditional look, by widening out those big white eyes and giving the chest logo a much more simplistic design. There’s not as much texture or complication on this new suit, which reminds me so much of the comics and cartoon series.
I can’t say that this new suit puts more faith in the project than what was in it before, because I’m still super worried about the stacked cast list, which includes more than one key villain, plus the return of Mary Jane and Harry Osborn.
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 opens in theaters on May 2nd, 2014.
