After revealing the new hip title change and the debut poster, we now have our first official look (well, sort of) at Leatherface in Lionsgate’s upcoming straight-sequel horror film Texas Chainsaw 3D.
John Luessenhop‘s film will be ignoring all sequels/reboots and prequels and act as a straight-forward sequel to Tobe Hooper‘s original horror classic The Texas Chain Saw Massacre. I’m not sure if that’s the best direction to take the series in, but we’ve moved past that point by now.
Shock Till You Drop has posted the first official image from the film, which gives us a look at Leatherface’s back as he heads towards a meat packing plant. It reminds me an awful lot of the past two Chainsaw films, but I’m still going to remain hopeful.
Why Lionsgate decided to shuffle this film from its prime October release date until next January is beyond me, especially with the horror season being a bit dry this year.
Texas Chainsaw 3D comes to theaters in 3D on January 4th, 2013.
